Since this podcast first started, Kylie has not been shy in addressing her experience and reality of her eating disorder recovery. However, one thing that’s been plaguing her mind lately is the perception that everyone that has had an eating disorder, still may find themselves quite thin or abusing some of the patterns in which they adopted initially to propel them into a mindset of “this is good for me” to help me “reach the body I’ve always wanted.” There is a glamorization of thinness on every social media platform and in every industry, but what about the women who have recovered from an eating disorder only to find themselves the largest they’ve ever been? How do people view their recovery? Do they feel ostracized from the eating disorder community because despite the fact that they’ve overcome their own harmful behaviors, they’ve still not gotten to a place of freedom with food, nor overcome their own personal stigmas.
In this episode, Kylie addresses her current reality as a mid to plus size mom in full eating disorder recovery, how it’s shaping her view of herself and how she shows up in the world, and what to keep in mind if you’re adjacent to anyone in your life whom you love that is dealing with something similar.
